I’ll be honest with you because I’m a little merry. I go to my mum’s house every year because it makes her happy. I eat her roast lunch. I eat her pudding. There will be a day where I’ll miss doing that but I’ll also be at home eating prawns and pudding and barely leaving the couch. You are not alone. Hugs to you. 🫂

She also says “I fucking hate Christmas”.

Me too. If not for my kids being so excited I’d have given up long ago and spent the day in a hotel or something. MIL and Mr Peeler have never gotten along consistently well and always seem to have a ripping argument on Christmas Eve and I’m the meat in the sandwich, trying to soften things up and focus on the kids not getting upset about it 😕

Sounds like they need to get liquored up and settle it in a makeshift boxing ring with rellies placing bets /joking

Or you and the kids can go to a separate area to do another activity and they can just go at it

I was invited to join the lead tenant and his family at a Chrissy do down in Corinella and it sounded like a good idea 2 months ago when I agreed to it, but now I’m doing that whole overthinking and stressing thing that I do well. I don’t know that I really want to anymore, it’s a long trip away in a teeny tiny car to a place I’ve never been to meet people I’ve never met in a situation where everybody else is very familiar with everybody else there, and I’ll be the odd one out

I’ll definitely be going, I’m not going to cancel this late, but I’m just nervous about it and also wondering why the fuck I signed up to go do something on like the only day of the year I don’t have to do anything

Tell us how it went after, you never know… Sometimes our gut is right, sometimes these stressful and dreaded events can turn out to be a lot better than expected and change our brain wiring :D at the very least, you’ll see a very different and lovely part of Vic that you wouldn’t be able to go to otherwise.

The christmas tree made it to work in one piece. And I was able to separate the biscuits out to eat, so I am declaring the Christmas Cookie Tree a complete success. Much of it has already been eaten 😁

Getting in early as I’ll be flat chat tomorrow… Hope everyone is safe and healthy and either has a great day tomorrow, or is able to get through the day and make it to the next one. Much love.

If you’re inclined, this station from somafm is good to have on in the background…

Arsehole ex landlord has not let out house yet. Went to neighbour’s bleating aww i don’t know why they moved, aww they shoulda put in an offer i woulda sold, awww the agent told me none of this

Thing is, said neighbour is the tree-swinging little old indian dude. Who i’ve basically been the surrogate daughter to for the past decade. And knows every intimate detail of how it actually went down.

Suffice to say, Don was pissed and that narrative-spinning conversation did not go as hoped.

Very satisfying coda to the saga of the shitty ex-landbastard. Surprising he can’t let out a whole house in a good area in this housing crisis! Mayhaps it wasn’t fit to be rented out…?

He can’t. The roof issue means it fails minimum standards - as officially stated by a CAV building inspector - and has already been flagged with VCAT as such. He’s gotta do those repairs we were on his arse for for fourteen fucking years first

I feel we are about to begin something similar. Both roof and dodgy rear extension are fit to go down any second. Not looking forward to this!

ours ended with an illegal eviction attempt and leaving the house we’d lived in for 16 years.

But on the plus side, we actually bought a house and now don’t shit ourselves in high winds

Nowhere near that long here, but three burst water mains, a peeling roof, and exploding tile work had me not even bothering to report the dead thing in the chimney. Need a lottery ticket.

Every Christmas my aim is to do less and less. This year I have out done myself. I make no apologies. Now could someone please wrap these 3 gifts that I forgot to buy gift bags for.

I bought 4 random gifts (big fancy gingerbread candles) and I’m so disinterested in wrapping them, I’m just going to put one of those stick-on ribbon things on the top. They come in fancy Christmas themed boxes anyway so screw it.

I was today days old when I learned why Die Hard is an xmas movie…

Somehow I’d completely blanked out the entire massive chunks of the movie that reference xmas and only remembered Alan Rickman, and Bruce Willis crawling in vents

Prawns are in the fridge, pork is wrap up for an overnight dry out, beer has been opened!

So on a final festive note I will say, Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays or neither and all at once to the DT! I hope your pants stretch out comfortably, that one weird family member doesn’t approach you, may no spikey seafood stab you, and if you want the day just to end may it do so swiftly.

I have managed to make my summer pudding without turning the kitchen into a crime scene, so that’s a win. Bit of lunch, then off to pick up seafood, then all my Christmasly duties are done and I can curl up with a book.

It involves bread, berries, and sugar syrup. The bread soaks in all the berry juice & syrup overnight to turn into a gorgeous spongy mush. I use defrosted frozen berries for extra juice, so it can get messy.

For the resident lazy bum, I managed to squeeze every last bit out of today’s glorious sun.

And also got blasted by sand in Port Melbourne.

    Our weather, right?
