The year is most important, especially if you assume it’s the current year but it turns out not to be: The important party is tomorrow, next year. Your last doctors checkup was three weeks ago, ten years ago.

Not just reasonable, that’s the very definition of reason.
For those keeping score, that’s ordering files by date and cereal confusion it’s good for.
For everything else, DMY is the way to go.
Also anything that may be viewed by someone who doesn’t already know what year the document is from.
