Once again vindicated for not watching “BreadTube” slop.

One time someone on here tried to argue to me that reading theory was too hard and it’s the same to just consume someone else’s summary. Sounds great until your only knowledge of socialism is a convicted sex trafficker/pedophile YouTuber explaining to you how Lenin would have voted for Kamala

Put it that way you’re not wrong but:

I maintain that if a socialist movement actually requires a majority of its membership to have actually read every volume of capital cover to cover and be able to write a college level paper on the subject: we all might as well just take the black pill right here and now because comrade that just simply ain’t gonna happen.

Reading theory should always be encouraged but like it or not: any organized mass movement is going to depend on people who are operating purely on the cliff notes.

Precisely why everyone should be encouraged to read theory, even if not everyone actually ends up doing it. The more people who have actually read theory, the more people can get away with having read the summary

As an English teacher, trust me when I say that no one is less under the illusion that everyone will do the assigned reading than me

No one is demanding that from anybody. They’re just demanding that people stop jerking off and throwing away their life and money to e-celebs who talk to a camera for a living and maybe read a book. Any book.

any organized mass movement is going to depend on people who are operating purely on the cliff notes.

Ok? Then tell the ecelebs to actually make good cliff notes

First-worlders need to read theory to combat the first-world desire to just tune out from the struggles of the bottom rungs of imperial core society and more specifically those struggling outside the imperial core. Vibes-based imperial “leftism” is going to make you more wrong than right at some point, maybe no right now when all the left gets to to do is chat about ideology and news events. You could see how astray people got as soon as Bernie pseudo-ran or BLM and people had to actually start looking at society through a marxist lens and not a passive consumer but kept doing shit like telling Canadians to phonebank for Bernie Sanders and whites to not talk over corporate-backed POC shitlibs.

The comrades outside the imperial core have their lives directly linked to improving global working politics, though they too still need to engage with communist theory and thought/consciousness, just not as much and for different reasons than us.

In the global south, you got unions, parties, organizations, clubs, and media run by leftists.

In the west you just got the media, and half of the problem is that everyone calls themselves a leftist including liberals who hate themselves, and the other half of the problem is that the media is dog shit culture crap 90% of the time.

The local libs in DSA and other socialist orgs make political and community gains in their areas, but you rarely hear a peep about it from these big radlib channels.

The difference is that most of the socialists aren’t western. They have actual vanguard parties to guide them through the struggle, and they also have communities where friends and neighbors help keep each other accountable and set expectations. You don’t necessarily need to understand The Word of Marx 100% when everyone around is dedicated to struggle for a better life. You see the words in the life you live.

Westerners don’t have any of that. They have SpongeBob and Spider-Man with the exception of workers who have been beaten down so much they don’t even have the capacity to know what the fuck a vaush tube streamer is - those guys are comparable to the exploited in the global south. Some of them (not all) are in the exact conditions

If one cannot do the bare minimum of reading pop history by leftist writers or even listen to Audiobooks because it’s too hard, then it’s going to be very grim. It’s better to just watch cool guy stream with his fancy RGB lights spinning and watch news clips with him.

They don’t just give back seized property without some kind of legal action on the part of the convict, and if BE is right then there was no attempt by Beau’s legal team to do so. Also the club fed switch-up around the same time doesn’t really make sense unless he agreed to be an informant and got some compensation for it.

Also just coincidentally this guy is a typical american “anarchist” whose foreign policy beliefs line up 98% with the US’s foreign policy, and any time elections come around his channel might as well be sponsored by the DNC because it’s all vote shit. He’s also close pals with a bunch of right wing libertarians who rant about “collectivism” being the enemy. Even if he’s not owned by the feds he sucks from a to z.

Yes, there are multiple claiming he has been rehabilitated because he went through the US justice system and a lot of people dismissing Bad empanada because he’s a tankie.

          claiming he has been rehabilitated

for those who didn’t watch the video, according to the video Beau went to a type of prison rich white collar criminals normally goto, so if anything, it was more like a day care with networking opportunities.

I somehow got lucky and never seen any of Beau’s content. This goes against all odds, as I’ve been presented many opportunities in the last few years, and I have intended to give him a fair try, and I have a crippling weakness for men with beards, but another video also just looked slightly more interesting each time.

I watched a few of his videos years back and they were alright, but the content itself wasn’t super interesting and his fake southern good ol’ boy schtick was painfully thin so I never kept up. Then I hear about this sometime during the official pandemic and refused to watch anything in passing anymore.

My coworker who still talks about Ukraine when all the other libs have forgotten about the topic, and who previously tried to get me to watch Vaush, and used to regularly try to encourage me to GM adversarially in my Werewolf the Forsaken game when I gave my other coworker Cliff’s notes on my sessions, has mentioned this slaver positively TWICE.

Uh, anyways, I don’t think restorative justice is for slavers, or that even if it were you should be a multi-millionaire (with money made from your slaving) f-list YouTube celebrity when it’s done.

Justin King should still be in prison.

I know that it’s small potatoes vs supporting the slaver and the pedophile, but my playgroup wanted to be cool werewolves who hunt spider monsters and evil spirits. Nobody is interested in “no matter what you do a mortal journalist gets video of you transforming and starts a nationwide werewolf hunt.”

Nobody wants the random good ol boys you mauled secretly all having silver buckshot. That’s stupid, Steve.

Players who don’t get they don’t know what they want but think they know what they don’t want suck. If you’re a player that means your job is to occupy the world, not to moan until its changed. If things aren’t working then bring it up, but give the DM a chance to cook. Like most good writing isn’t giving people what they ask for, it’s giving them what they didn’t even know they wanted and a player should have the decency to allow the gm to try to accomplish that because that’s what keeps in from being a really complicated dice game. I’ve helped a co-worker with this and the issues with the party he DMs being super over leveled to the point that anything aside from high level combat is trivial by playing recurring Special Guest Stars who are generally way lower leveled and plot crucial but with my own agency. A DM Npc played by a character sort of. Other times I’m my own made up guys. I’m almost strictly about role playing and these guys like to do so but tend to let the power trip get in the way, so when I sit in for the minor arcs I’m good for changing that rhythm up. It’s nice cause I can show up and play how I like at a super low level and mostly relying on wits and it changes the tone for a bit. I’m the ds9 ferengi episodes or tng q episodes or whatever show where a recurring guest character shows up and kinda changes the tone for an episode. I’m only around every so often and it’s a change of pace each time. Plus I work with the dm and make the maps and artwork so I can’t really be an all the time player cause I know what’s happening behind the scenes and help with the story.

If you want to ostracise Beau from the left the pathway to doing so has already been laid out by the anti-Vaush campaign. Create a masterlist of problems, write up bot responses for it, get it installed in as many leftwing subs as possible auto-responding to “Beau”. You’d need to know people in those modteams for this, or know people that know people, most of the left will jump on-board if you get 2 or 3 well known ones doing it though.

A subreddit dedicated to the cause similar to EnoughVaushSpam is another possibility, but Beau might not be controversial enough to produce enough content to populate one.

This is all not really very difficult but requires someone with the motivation and time for it.
