Or OMG what if we made DOTA but Hearthstone.
Damn we would be some serious innovators in the video game space. Nobody could ever think to do that.
it makes me sad. the people yearn for a new arena shooter but esports ready slop is what we’re getting. it doesn’t look fun at all and in terms of stuff like movement mechanics it’s a clear devolution from team fortress and dumbing down of those things ala overwatch.
I HATE ESPORTS
I HATE ESPORTS
spoiler
I’d hate the concept less if it wasn’t forced into so many franchises and genres in ways that take away from those genres in attempts to cash in. There was a cool Heavy Gear mecha game concept that seemed promising until it tripped over itself trying to be esports trash some years back, for example, and Planetside 2 wasted years of development time trying to pander to esports shit that went nowhere and wasted an entire map of developer time that no one else could use or even see.
Just bring back GunZ: The Duel tbh
I have never fully understood the appeal of a convoluted and bloated metagame within a game (that basically killed off the RTS genre that spawned it) that has its own specific and rigid rules and expected way for each match to play out in a way that causes excruciatingly long death spirals for the losing team that have to be played through each and every time and the consequent rage and toxicity that encourages in its playerbase… and why I’d voluntarily want to play or even watch that.
On literally my first game of this someone kept calling everyone the r slur for being bad at the game. It’s not even released yet. How can anyone be good yet.
First and foremost that keeps me far away from MOBA anything. Something about the format is like a rage magnet, and with that it also pulls in all sorts of bigotry, too.
You need a decently high ELO for there to be a guaranteed death spiral rather than execution mistakes big enough that you can seize the momentum back.
I suppose I’ll just take your word from it. I’m an outside observer that had associates that more or less horrified me with how “fun” the toxic hate vomit they were swimming around during ranked matches was to them.
I liked Paragon.
Felt like it didn’t get a fair shake. There was a good game in there, just needed some polish and good matchmaking / ranked.
Honestly I think this game feels closer to Smite than Overwatch.
It’s Smite but with more involved fps aiming and guns.
I never really played Smite unfortunately. Honestly I don’t hate it, I just think it’s fairly uninspired.
From a company that already has an fps moba series
Just make team fortress 3 if you really want to do that again
tf2 isn’t a moba
a Toyota Hilux in a lane is a MOBA.
Hey what if we could only count to 2
icefrog can do no wrong

DOTA but PoE would actually be

real game exec boardroom minutes
What if it had loot boxes and a battle pass
I’m on board but only if there’s a cute teenaged girl that we can pile skins onto for extra profits
Hey what if we have one enby character that never gets a single special edition skin but we have 10 different age ambiguous anime girls that get 15 different swimsuit edition skins.

DOTA but Hearthstone
Artifact? Not sure what DOTA but Overwatch would be
To be honest, I think Dota Souls would be kinda cool.
The joke is that Valve are currently doing closed testing for a “DOTA but it’s Overwatch” game.
well, what is it called? I literally can’t even find any information about it
Deadlock, it’s all over the place if you search “new valve game”.
remember artifact?
I exit scammed by selling my axecoin on day 0, only time I have made money off vidya aside from selling EVE-O accounts.
How are y’all already in? I thought this was closed lol.
it technically is, just once you have an invite you can invite your whole friends list lol. awoo invited a bunch of people here. do you want an invite to try?
I wouldn’t say no, but I’m not entirely sure on how steam opsec works and wouldn’t want to make it awkwardly
I really like the game. Valve are doing some interesting things (rail system, movement in general) and I think it’s generally just fun. There are some aesthetic things that need attention with the map and UI, but otherwise I’m optimistic
