Imagine thinking pop culture, technology, and news, 95% of what gets discussed in any Lemmy instance, aren’t related to politics.

No, I think it was the opposite. I’m the one who keeps insisting that socialist philosophy doesn’t stop in 1924, that the socialist international is not a Leninist organization, and that MLs who quote Chomsky in defense of autocratic politics are way more fucking dense than any lib.

Y’all are the ones who treat Lenin’s half baked, modernist screed like some cringeworthy dogma painted on your cave wall, while continuously demonstrating that you are mostly slacktivists, trolls and keyboard warriors who express no actual interest in political philosophy beyond your painfully outmoded geopolitical head canon, yet go around mocking others for not finding your stick drawings very convincing.

Okay, so you would be willing to explain some basic marxist ideas to the viewer then?

                Great!

How do fixed capital, ttotroptf, and the primary mode of worker alienation under capital intersect?(As described by Marx and not successfully criticized up to the present day) This has multiple answers and one of them can be a one word answer.

                That out of the way, on a personal note;

I work on two different grassroots campaigns because a nearby hospital is closing and the lead pipes are poisoning the community’s children. I am heading up internal reorganization to make my org safer, and am donating most of my salary from my bullshit job that lets me post and organize for most of the day to socialist orgs, while surviving as a multiracial trans woman in a rural area of a deep red state. I’m currently reading socialist and anarchist texts written in the last 5 years, on hiatus from reading a book about the soviet dual monetary system because it is machine translated from Russian and is a slog.

I have more respect for the least educated hexbear slacktivists than I do for anti-communist “socialists” like yourself.

Log the fuck off and start from the basics again, because you’ve obviously misunderstood them based on all the dogshit takes I’ve seen from you. All the anarcho syndies I know who actually do shit would not get along with your sorry ass.

Yeah buddy, I’m not your monkey. If you want to have an actual conversation about why, eg, autocracy doesn’t do jack shit to resolve exploitation via labor alienation and commodification, I’m here for it. Or if you want to go over why the complete lack of actionable framework for curating the political agency of the individual is, in fact, one of the most glaring and widely discussed holes in Marxist orthodoxy, I’d love to pull that string.

But if you are just going to be another smug sectarian who insists on making dishonest campist garbage the bottom of their moral well, then I guess we can keep taking pot shots at eachother. I just think the internet deserves a better class of socialist.

I’m from another nation-oriented instance that has an outsized presence, right next to Duitsland.

        My guess is:

        • Germany is a big, populated country
        • People from DACH also gravitate towards feddit.de
        • The culture kinda gives itself to the project
        • The NL and the EU are the main funders of Lemmy
        • The government itself is embracing the Fediverse

German-speaking countries in Europe. Deutschland (Germany), Austria and of course the Confœderatio Helvetica (Switzerland).

It’s the country codes for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (Deutschland for the D, Confederation Helvetica for the CH). Those are the three countries with a majority of their people speaking German other than Liechtenstein, which is extremely small

It also means roof and is reminiscent of Dachsprache. One of those unreasonably neat acronyms.

And in particular it’s the vehicle registration codes, ISO 3166 for Austria is AT (hence also the TLD).

I think one reason is the large number of German users on the Internet. With around 100 million speakers, German is the second most spoken native language in the West after English.

According to the application texts, many users seem to come from various podcasts. We are also “endorsed” by one of the largest German-language subreddits on its front page (r/ich_iel). Our users have also started to watermark their memes, which occasionally attracts new users. Feddit also made it into an article in a popular IT magazine (heise).

Generally internet culture In the Dach region is very active and forward looking, and potentially ideologically aligned with the idea of Fediverse and generally FOSS software and privacy. E.g. for Wikipedia language share German got overtaken by Spanish only within the last 5 years slipping from 2nd to 3rd suggesting some early adopter and internet participation higher than the norm.

Subjectively a lot of people here have uneasiness with big tech, and are relatively informed about alternatives.DACH on Reddit was also very big, and very ideologically opposed to API changes and general Reddit corpo behaviour. Subjectively again Dach and ich_iel felt like home when I joined, essentially like the Reddit culture I was used to, just with a little more progressive views across the board.

Also I suspect that German language speakers are fairly active within the English speaking parts of the internet in general, while Spanish and French as well as other non Germanic languages seem to have more disdain for English language content and sites, Germans and Dutch as well as Nordics are very comfortable with English as a common language.

I wonder how many of the accounts on world are ones that are just left for dead as people moved around to other instances. I myself was day one on world but the outages became too much.

Made my first Lemmy account on Lemmy.world on the first weekend of June, but the outages of late June/early July pushed me (with some encouragement from others who’ve already made the jump earlier) to make a lemm.ee account. It was only supposed to be an alt, to be used when Lemmy.world is unusable, but the Meta fiasco then made me decide to make lemm.ee my main.

I’ve been on sh.itjust.works since day one of my Lemmy existence, because shit just works.

It also doesn’t overdo it with defeds (beehaw) and isn’t run by tankies (lemmy.ml) or nazis (exploding-heads).
