In other words German car makers are not innovative enough to compete and should go bancrupt.

But if we let them lobby some more and go unpunished for violations some more, they can become even less competitive, so they require even more governmental bailouts!

And 20-40yo people in this generation can’t/won’t buy cars.

What a tragically weak sad sack of political waste.

Europe needs leadership, and all this guy manages is to unsuccessfully try to steal votes from Wagenknecht by appealing to nationalists and Russlandverstehers.

For the love of God give us someone more competent next time around. Scholz leading Germany through a trump presidency would be the fucking end.

LOL in the upcoming elections we probably get the conservatives with Merz in a coalition with Scholz SPD. Merz is the kind of guy, who would openly go, “btw I do not speak as the chancellor, but as the lawyer of Volkswagen right now” in a government meeting. In fact he did something very similar in a party leadership meeting in his home state once. He is so openly buyable it is not even funny. Scholz is bad, but Merz somehow is even worse. In fact he is so bad, that he somehow managed to never be in a government office. He never even was part of some village council let alone state or federal governments.

Scholz is afraid all the time. The good part is that he is also afraid of his coalition partners, which managed to make him do some actually usefull stuff. Merz probably just needs enough money, to change his opinion on anything.

Yeah, I can’t say I’m optimistic. Maybe if someone could challenge Scholz from within the SDP, but that doesn’t seem likely either.

I don’t think the man is evil or anything - much like Hindenburg, he could probably have made for a perfectly mediocre leader during period in which nothing happens. Sadly, shit is happening, and scared indeed seems to be a good description.

Considering his various scandals from his time in Hamburg, I actually doubt that. CumEx and the way he keeps obstructing the process of dealing with that should be enough to end his career.

I notice it’s always “Germany’s Scholz” rather than just Scholz. Is there another prominent one?

No, but Scholz is not prominent enough for everyone to recognize the name without “Germany’s” in front.

I guess I have to agree with you in this specific instance, at least. The article says it’s ministries or economy and environment that support it, Scholz appears to be just a public face slurping shit up :(

Sorry for linking to the Tiktok but here’s what a bunch of Americans responded when a German newspaper asked about him: video.
