The only people who’ve “transitioned” babies were (cw: non-voluntary genital mutilation)

    spoiler

doctors back in the day that would hack up intersex babies whose outward sex characteristics didn’t neatly match male or female to make them conform to one or the other.

Cisgendered culture is the only one who’s done this when nature poked a whole in their binary paradigm and they weren’t comfortable with biological reality.

Why is it that people can’t accept that transitioning is solely the interest of the transititioner and leave it at that?

It is not your body, it is not your responsibility, it is not your choice

Just fuck off and do something else, goddamn

I think in this case this argument doesn’t really work because the extent to which society trusts toddlers to make decisions about their own bodies is limited (and there’s obviously some good reasons for that, but it should be interrogated here). You know, same thing with kids getting tattoos, cosmetic surgery, etc. You generally don’t argue about this from the position that children ought to be able to do whatever irreversible thing as long as they want to, because almost no one agrees with that. Not that we shouldn’t allow some grace for letting minors make decisions about their health and their bodies even if their parents disagree, which is also a prerequisite for all children (but especially trans children) to be healthy.

If someone asked me, in good faith, if toddlers should be allowed to transition I think I’d answer back with another question, which is why are we imposing gendered behavior on toddlers in the first place? If the caricature that’s implied by the tweet, that of some activist parents who “trans” their toddler, is so abhorrent because it’s wrong to impose the wrong gender on their toddler, doesn’t it stand to reason that imposing gender at all is just as wrong?

Y’know if you actually TALKED to a trans person and hear about their struggles, you’d come to understand that for some, transitioning at a young age can literally be life saving. Or you can make up people to get mad at.

As the previous owner of a number of toddlers, they don’t have a fucking gender. Their parents give them a gender long before they’re old enough to even wrap their tiny little brains around the concept. YOU’RE THE ONES PUSHING GENDER ON KIDS YOU FUCKING FREAKS.

I deleted my whole rant because it just feels so fucking obvious and directed towards someone who must be acting in bad faith because how else could you be so foolish. But I’ll keep this one line:

The only sex change operations done on toddlers are the ones forced on the intersex to fit social norms.

Being overly generous because he’s 100% acting in bad faith here, I imagine his point is that the rants you and I launch into when we see the bait are exactly what transphobes feed off of.

Toddlers frequently go out in public wearing Halloween costumes in March. Letting people play with and try on identities when they’re small is good, actually. Is that “social transitioning?” Is it social transitioning when your three year old nephew tells you he’s going to be a fire truck when he grows up? Should you sit him down and have a very serious and intense conversation about “traditional human roles?” No? Then fuck off about that same kid wanting to wear a dress or play with dolls or jump in the mud puddle or whatever dumbass thing you’ve convinced yourself has “gender implications.”

one of the first things someone asks me after learning that I’m trans is my opinion of children’s medical issues = we are not cool and you don’t have my back.

    what a freak

His whole reasoning here is purely anti-intellectual. No, Mr. YouTuber, giving a simple “no” answer to a question that has multiple sociological and health dimensions isn’t a sign that you’re more capable of reason than someone who actually wants to chew on a hypothetical and figure out the contradictions at its core. Like, FFS, I thought cis white people loved playing Devil’s Advocate and reading into hypotheticals?

He makes entertaining videos. That’s about the only positive thing anyone can say about him. The thing that gets me about him is that he has mostly made videos about how irredeemably fucking evil the United States government is and then he still says he’s a patriot.

Totally believe him when he says he used to be addicted to benzos. His behavior bears it out.

Welp, there it is. Got the feeling something like this was coming ever since he put up that “virtue signalling twitter users represent the left and theyre responsible for fascism” video he put up a while back.

    Fucking dissapointing.
