Summary

Donald Trump praised Democratic Senator John Fetterman after their meeting at Mar-a-Lago, calling him a “commonsense person.”

Fetterman, whose political stance has shifted rightward in recent years.

He has drawn criticism from Democrats, especially for co-sponsoring the Laken Riley Act, which allows detention of undocumented immigrants accused of nonviolent crimes.

His wife, Gisele, an advocate for immigrant rights and a former undocumented immigrant, was not mentioned in discussions on immigration.

The meeting marks an unexpected alignment between the two politicians.

We need a unified party to challenge both republicans and democrats. Once dems see an actual threat to them, then they will try to act. More likely to compromise for a majority. That’s why Bernie failed. He tried to play their game.

I’m for multiple parties in the end but we need a real threat first. Not one of two places but several across local and national.

Most conservatives come by their brain damage slowly, through lead poisoning and childhood abuse; or through mental disorders like high-functioning psychopathy, narcissism, and sociopathy.

I’m currious because there’s 3 theories to fit the concept.

        1. He’s two faced… when surrounded by left leaning people he’s saying “yeah I’m going to tell trump he can suck it to his face!!!”, then in front of the right leaning people he’s actually bending the knee.

        2. He’s being sarcastic, and trump is too narcisistic to see it… IE see the right leaning people who can’t understand how Colbert left their side.

        3. He’s being civil, simply talking about what they can agree on and work with… and trump is calling that great.

We have some evidence for number 1 already. When he was campaigning, his messaging was progressive, and he actually referred to himself as a progressive plenty of times. Then, when Israel started the genocide, he became the hawkiest of hawks and claimed that he never said he was a progressive. The guy is a prime example of a career politician.

While I agree, to the best I can see, so far I don’t see his original claims as being anti-war. Yes he said he was progressive… but the specific examples I find of his old stances were healthcare etc… He does appear heavily neocon now, and he’s largely silent on the issues he appeared progressive on. Which isn’t super shocking as they are largely not the focus right now, as no one is talking about them.

IE you can’t directly call it a two faced flip until he takes the opposite side of a stance he formerly took. I mean it’s still fishy as hell and he’s clearly making no effort to bring the issues that he ran on into the spotlight… but it’s very hard to judge if he’s flipped a stance, or just put his best foot forward.

Fetterman is a disappointment. I voted for that mofo, but I definitely won’t again.

You mean Harvard educated fake working slob John Fetterman is disingenuous? Tell me you are lying. He’s our working man because of sweatshirts and shitty facial hair, right? RIGHT??? If not, I’m going to start thinking that politicians are just not good people.

Last line: “Has Fetterman turned so far to the right that he’s ignoring his own wife’s story—and is Trump secretly applauding him for it?“

    Secretly???

Its loud and clear virtue signaling. Other Democrats take the knee and do as i say and maybe i wont be mad at you when i take revenge on everyone else.

One of these days people will realize just having a D by your name isn’t enough…

As shit as Fetterman is, he’s helping a lot of people realize it. So at least he’s doing some good

For real. One of the state reps for Detroit claims to be Democrat. But she blocked all the last minute bills and won’t caucus with the Democrats this term. She’s in a district that is over 80% D and the law makes it almost impossible to recall her. So frustrating
