Like I know I shouldn’t, the process of US tax filing is silly and unnecessary, etc.

but I feel so responsible!!! I do them as early as I can, like as each document I need becomes available. Shit rules

It’s especially “based” that for most of us the government has all this information already, yet requires us to resubmit it using paid software because they lobby Congress to prevent automatic filing 😎

I’m the same, even logging into shit to get papers early like a nerd. I also keep the household budget, so I get to feel all smart having certain numbers at hand (childcare expenses, car taxes, etc) after busting my ass to track stuff throughout the year.

As much as I hate lending money interest free toamerikkka, it’s nice to get the money I’ve been overpaying back, too(it’s at least better than having another surprise bill lol).

I’m gonna get a real tax person for the first time this year, since I just got my wife to the US and I’m a bit unsure if it’s going to complicate things that she’s not a citizen and how marriage changes things. Not looking forward to it

Yeah if you don’t have a “normal” tax situation one of the more built out softwares or a CPA is probably worth it. Last year I had a partial advance premium tax credit from marketplace health that was annoying to calculate, but I figured it out eventually

Due to some absolutely ridiculous circumstances last year I have to have an accountant do my taxes this season. Literally incomprehensible how I would do it myself. It doesn’t need to be this way but here we are

I’m super irresponsible about doing my taxes since I’ve never made enough money to actually reach the taxable threshold. So I usually wait until the last minute and sometimes later than that. It probably fucks me to do it that way but I’m broke anyway so whatevs

  • im the same way. i have mostly worked for employers that generally take most of january (up to the 31st) to distribute w-2s. but generally by the end if the first week in january i have a folder for the previous year and have begun generating/aggregating documents.

myself and my stepfather are the ones like this.

i had some untaxed income this year so i think im gonna owe for the first time in a long time. i guess the upside is that i got the tax free loan this time.
