stop recommending mint to noobs and normies! EndeavorOS is stable enough for an average user, while offering the helping hand of ArchWiki and AURs.

It depends on the person, do they want to just use something which can open the browser, office suite, and occasionaly some games/programs without uderstanding anything, or they like to tinker, and customize, break and repair their system. I recommend Mint/Eos/Arch based on the willingness of thinkering. Cinnamon is easy and straight forward, KDE is not.

EOS most certainly can open the browser out of the box. I don’t see why such a user would have an issue with kde, or, for the matter, why any windows refugee would

My EOS/Arch had broke down after update 3 times since I use them. 2 times nvidia 1 time grub. Anyone without the knowledge and willingness to thinker, will think linux is bad because broke for no reason. As long as they willing to have a bootable USB next to their PC and don’t mind to chroot sometimes EOS/Arch is a better choice. I think many-many people overestimate the average human’s knowledge and willingness to understand things. Relevant XKCD 2501

Mods will delete your comment and ban you immediately if you don’t follow the party line.

Actual discourse between different ideas, convictions, and worldviews is suprisojgly rare between Lemmyings.

Hey you- you reading this, try talking to someone on the fediverse who’s perspective you dont understand. Share what you think and try to understand what they do :)

We’re all just here escaping the corporate dystopia. Reject the engagement-centric rage bait socialization we’ve all been handed and be curious about whatever weird belief system or ideology that internet rando has. We can build a different culture here, its not too late

Next morning: Self-diagnose clear signs of sleep deprivation as being ADHD or ASD.

Next afternoon: Google a lot of stuff about neurodivergence but tell everyone you used Duck Duck Go.

Next evening: Look around Lemmy for comments to reply to with all the stuff just learned from Google, even if they’re half a year old.

Next late evening: Remember to eat.

Next night: Stay up until 5am complaining about the man, anxiety, and ongoing struggles of a fried brain. Get 3 hours sleep.

I’ve been here since the APIcolypse, and I understood about half of the OP, but you get my upvote, anyway.

My defining moment of the fediverse is when I made a stupid joke asking about Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and was told the short answer was Capitalism.

Most of the post is geared more towards Mastodon/microblogiverse content, rather than Lemmy/threadiverse stuff. There’s a lot of cultural overlap, but where they diverge, this post aims for the former.
