I sent another care package to my friend. They have atypical pneumonia, I haven’t been able to see them and I’m a bit worried.

    Sorting Melbcat’s stuff

I’ve returned Melbcat’s unused meds to the vet because someone else can use them. There was an entire box of medication in there that hadn’t been opened yet and the vet specifically asked for the return of the second bag of fluids if they didn’t get used. (There may be a shortage.) I’m still deciding whether to wash and donate the Aerokat.

Still feeling absolutely shattered about losing her and am sleeping holding her urn at night the same way I used to hold her. It was so sudden which makes it really hard to accept. She was such a part of my life.

    Black cat has returned

The black cat is back and was sulky about my disappearance. I caved and started patting him again so I’m back on the disinfection treadmill and fretting how to deal with it. Also finding dead birds which I hope was the heat spell and not him… one was a magpie and I hear a kookaburra I don’t want to get eaten. All of this would be so much easier if this cat didn’t have ringworm.

There is one neighbour I might talk to about if anyone owns him. I did give the vet a found poster and am waiting on a cheapie chip scanner to see if he even has a microchip so it would be safer to take him to the vet. If he does have a chip and an owner I could possibly abduct him into the vet for their collection. The hissing though. I wish these vets were authorised to contact owners directly rather than send them to the pound with a collection deadline.

Life is so fucking hard. I’m desperately trying to fix something in my godforsaken life and unshittify my surroundings by a tiny amount but everything feels so painful and pointless.

          i get that sometimes

it’s just echoes of people from the past who used to make me feel bad when I had good things going on my life

so hard to get past that feeling

I should be angry and tell them to go fuck themselves, ( in my mind ) I suppose,

and focus on the praise and kisses I get from mr seagoon

It’s unfair that it’s effortless to make mess and takes 10 times as long to clean it up. Plus needs extra motivation.

    Worst movie ever watched?

For me: Rubber (2010), dir. Quentin Dupieux.

The premise: a rubber car tyre developed awareness and psychokinetic powers to kill people

The actual experience: Pretentious absurdist French shite.

Maybe some people like it, but I certainly did not. And yes, I will take any opportunity to shit on this film. I wasted 82 minutes of my life, twice, on this poop film

Oh my lord do I love watching The Room, it’s just so perfectly quotable!

“Anyway, how’s your sex life?” 😂 And that awkward scene where he fucks her dress? Or the sheets? So delightfully unhinged.

I actually read the book Greg wrote about how he met Tommy and how the movie got made, production etc, also delightfully unhinged. And the Disaster Artist movie was great too.

Can you tell I love The Room? 👀

Autumn in New York - Richard Gere and Winona Ryder

Shlockfest about a younger woman falling in love with an older man, and then she gets sick (or is sick) and dies near the end of the movie.

Ended a relationship over that piece of shit.

I haven’t seen that tbh, but the premise reminds me a little of City of Angels, with Meg Ryan and Nicholas Cage. That film makes me very, very angry

Movie I have sat all the way through. Most bad movies I will stop watching.

      Survive!

I saw this at the movies with my frenemy

it was so bad I laughed, she was really upset I laughed

true, the story was serious, but a serious story is different to a well made movie, which this was not

Two that I can think of. Moulin Rouge. Didn’t get passed the first half hour. Don’t know what it’s about still to this day. And Mamma Mia. I did watch it all and then slapped myself.

I liked Moulin Rouge but I watched it as a teen and had a massive crush on both Ewan, Nicole, and the guy that sings Roxanne 😂

Hard agree on Mamma Mia, and I love ABBA 😂

    Complaining

I may have treated this ringworm inadequately and spread it to the sheets and my ankle. It could be irritation from the perfumed antifungal laundry rinse but with my immune system I’m not taking any chances. Treatment will recommence and endless hot wash and dry laundry continues.

I may have to wash the last two blankets that might still smell of Melbcat and stink them up with scent.

I don’t seem to be progressing at anything, the house doesn’t look any cleaner, my wrist hurts from slamming my hand into the wall, I spend every moment of every day feeling hollow and like I want to cry.

before you do all that I think you should see a doctor about it, don’t take the chance

because it does not help to work so hard and have such anxiety when you can’t possibly be sure

and keep a pen and paper journal everyday but like a Japanese journal, write some positive observations, write about other people and things

      and so many hugs 🫂

I figured a good way to read books is to take them with me on the train, ( audible is only good for me when I listen to fiction ), but for that I need a bigger bag. Totoro bag has been taken out of retirement 🫠

I’ve downloaded Diablo II and have started leveling a necromancer. I called him Old Mate.

I still have a soft spot for DIII because that was my first Diablo game and I got the box as a gift from a Xmas casual job I was doing (bauble painting at Knox City lol). We we’re right outside EB games, and my manager George bought it for me as my Xmas bonus. Fond memories ahhh

I’m loving DII, I’ve played before with my partner, but this is my solo run.

I’ve never played Majora’s Mask, or many Zelda games at all really. I did play the DS one that was a train? Spirit train? And Breath of the Wild.

      Do you emulate it?

I’m playing the recompiled version. People made a native PC version based on the Super Mario 64 source code leak from a few years back. It has improved framerate, widescreen support, and mods.

One great QOL improvement it comes with is your main masks and ocarina are mapped to the D-pad and you can skip the cutscene of putting the masks on. I think in the original they had to be part of your 3 item slots.

You can get it here, you still need a ROM file but they’re easily acquirable if you need one:

        https://github.com/Zelda64Recomp/Zelda64Recomp/releases/tag/v1.2.2

There’s also recomp versions of Super Mario 64, Ocarina Of Time, Mariokart 64, and Banjo Kazooie that I know of. These recomp versions are the way to play these games now they exist.

They’re like different types of getting hooked. Modern games make the gameplay loop so fluid you can just keep going. In old games you’re stuck looking for that one thing you need to do to get to progress the game

Plus it’s made by a Melbourne dev team, Massive Monster. I feel lucky I got to meet them at pax at a few years ago lol
