relatedly, i’m laughing at people here in sweden complaining about rising gas prices that are still nowhere near what they were just a few years ago

drivers have no fucking short term memory i swear to god, all they’re capable of comprehending is “number go up is bad”

Then get a double decker bike. Or show off that classic folding bike swag. Nothing cooler than a bicycle that looks ridiculous in order to be able to fit in your apartment

Nothing cooler than a bicycle that looks ridiculous

l experienced that feeling for a while about 15 years ago, riding one of the then very rare 29" drop bar mountain bikes.
          Looked like a legit frankenbike.

People turned their heads and started asking me about it out of the blue at predestrian crossings or so (a very unusual behaviour here in Germany).

With the somewhat similar looking gravelbikes becoming a thing during the recent years, the bike doesn’t stand out that much anymore, so situation is more relaxed now.
Although I miss the extra attention a tiny bit…

ITT people not realizing these censored posts are probably a repost from somewhere else and OP has nothing to do with it

I realize it. Even more of a reason to complain. Stop polluting the un-enshittified internet with shit.

I’m wondering if a single person somehow made it to Lemmy without understanding most posts are reposts. Very doubtful.

Basic marketing 101, if you can get people to talk about your product, you have succeeded.

There was a marketing campaigns for mittens versus gloves a while back, but the marketing team “mixed up” the terms (on purpose). This got everyone talking and debating.

The more recent one is the Big Arch burger.

Electric vehicles are probably much older than you assume.

They came up in parallel to the gasoline cars in the late 1800s and were surprisingly common during the early 1900s.
